Dear friends,
I'm modeling a water storage tank under seismic forces in Abaqus. I've model the water with ALE approach and seismic analysis by dynamic explicit, but the job ended with error of:
excessive element distortion
zero or negative mass
as you can see in the picture below, the element of water at the corner of tank deform very badly. (the tank is removed in the picture and only the water is shown)
I would be so grateful if anyone could help me with this situation.

Dear Hassan,
Have you used the definition of artificial viscosity at "step" level? ... If not, try with it and use the default parameters: 0.06 for linear and 1.2 for bulk viscosities.
Otherwise, you need to model differently the water: viscosity (now in the material definition), but, mostly, a shear modulus (Mechanics -> Elasticity).
