I understand that some studies investigated pure substances (chemical compounds) whereas some investigated extracts (parts of plants or plant "juice"). Are there good search strategies or filters to search particularly for the former or the latter in major literature databases (e.g. PubMed)? Thank you very much for your help.

I have some personal experience as well as publications on that subject.
You will get many articles from renounced journals regarding the use of active components or synthetic analog of active components extracted by the use of chemical diluents from the dried parts of medicinal plants.
But you will not get any such paper working on pressure extracted portion of succulent parts of medicinal plants (juices).
The juices are far far more active medicine than the compounds, but their widespread use may throw a challenge to the contemporary global pharma, treatment, and diagnostic apparatus industries. So, such researches are not funded and such articles are not encouraged for publication.

There are many papers and articles on alternative pharmacology in which raw materials and pure materials have been used for testing.
Dear colleague,
you can use PubMed, especially by applying the MESH terms (see PubMed User Guide) or by focussing your search on e.g. flavonoids, tannins etc. or on specific single compounds.
Alternatively, you can use Google Scholar or a search engine like Google, e.g. entering a combination of search terms like "abstract", "flavonoid, a specific single compound or "extract" and the respective biological activity. The suitable search terms largely depend on your field of research.

Try using Google Scholar to search for articles on your field by searching for terms such as "type of extract" or the compounds you are interested in studying such as flavonoids, and the relevant biological activity.

Just search your literature with the botanical names of that plants with active phtoconstituent in various database like pubmed, science direct,google scholar or scopus.
You can find both literature simulataneously.
