I use CFD to simulate gas dispersion. In this, through results I get the density contour of NOx. How do I convert the density values to concentration? Is ideal gas law suitable, if so give me the conversion steps?
I am using CFD Fluent module to predict NOx concentration in a specific CBL (Convective Boundary Layer) condition with a known background concentration. Through simulations in module, I dont get the concentration of the pollutant in-spite I get the density contour in the CBL of my interest. How do I convert the density value of the pollutant to concentration. For example, My background NOx concentration is 6 PPM, how do I convert this concentration into density? Is ideal gas law suitable. If I do using ideal gas law, with know density I would arrive a value in molar mass and from molar mass how do I convert to concentration, since concentration and density is different.
d = m / V, n = m / Mw, C=n/V, PV=nRT where dis density, m is mass, V is total volume, Mw molecular weight, C is concentration and the other terms are known, so you can get C from d according the unit you use. Also, for perfect gas C=P/RT=XP/RT where X is the mole fraction.
