Hello, I am simulating MSW feed as a non-conventional using Aspen plus. In the RYIELD block I have entered the basis yield (mass basis). I am facing an error saying that ''THE following elements were not in atomic balance: N H C S CL''. I have inserted a fortran block as a result, but the error still continues. I feel that the yield I have specified for the decomposition block is wrong. Can anyone please help me out how to tackle this problem?

can you be more specific on how you have put the MSW, its composition and your products? also there might be an error in calculator block

For the particular case of MSW you can use exactly the same approach as for coal in the pdf. attached, there are no differences. It is possible that you can get a warning message, "not ERROR", and that does not mean that your simulation is wrong. You can find details about it in the document also.

Saira, I would suggest to check your RYIELD block for this error, the yield you entered for components is not in mass balance which means its not 1 (or 100). You can use excel calculations to make them 1 and then insert same values in RYIELD block.

Thank you everyone for your inputs ...I have tried it again and the simulation is working this time. Junior Lorenzo Llanes yes I was getting a warning message, sorry ! however it is rectified now.
