Lake George in New South Wales, Australia dried completely in the beginning of XX century, so probably you will find a lot of works about it.

I will look for the works about Lake George, hoping to find good piece of material relating to its dryness impacts.

A general survey to value the regional development of the Lake zone maybe a good idea to get a economic and social view.

The legal framework , the impact about population, companies location, local incomes....etc are some of the items you can study, I think.

Lake Aral is you all know one of the worst examples of a drying lake. You will find a lot of info.

Conference Paper Sustainability Rediscovered: Development, Freedom and Enviro...

That was an excellent paper for somewhat valuing non-marketed targets as well as the development sustainability. I enjoyed it very much. environmental economics methods such as CVM (Contingent Valuation Method) I suppose apply successful criteria in this regard. The climate change debate has not been considered in my research, as our initial findings indicate that there has been no traces of climatic extreme events such as drought in the basin under study during recent years. I will try to consider some of your valuable comments and methods in my research, while I will have to be careful about proposing applicable and strategic approaches toward the aftermath of the Urmia Lake dryness.

I will be again grateful if you and/or other researchers put their valuable comments here.

A similar study is going on Bhoj Lake, Bhopal, India. Though the lake still contains water, it dried up for some time in recent past. For impact assessment and survey techniques, u may refer that study.

I have prepared my initial research proposal. The main questions being raised include: what will happen for rural communities around The Lake after the Lake's fully dryness? What will happen to the economy of the farmers already dependent on the micro-climatic moistness of the area thanks to the Lake? What would be the environmental-ecosystem impacts of the Lake dryness? (I should add that Urmia Lake used to be the saltiest Lake of Iran and one of the hyper saline lakes of the world. It covered 52,000 km2 of area and was one of the biggest biosphere reserves of the Middle East and Iran. At present, almost 98% of the total water and area of the Lake has been dried due to human activities such as the construction of over 36 dams in the basin, the excess use of ground water for newly introduced and old products, e.g., over 55000 wells operating in the Basin, and a very small fraction of dryness belongs to the climatic extreme events like droughts, etc.)...

I hope this can be helpful for dear researchers to contribute in the subject and helping me compile the final draft of my research proposal...

Your theme is a very interesting & relevant subject  and requires a multidisciplinary approach.Lot of such work are available but often they are unpublished . But you can get these information  if you contact  the concerned authorities dealing with management of such dams in different  part of the world. Good amount of information can also be obtained through internet. You can look into history of similar dams and dam sites before & after construction and make a comparative study.

We have recently  done a research titled as" Economical, Social and Environmental effects of Groundwater depletion in Hamedan-Bahar plain sponsored by Oagh-Bazargani-Iran. i think it will be useful for your research.

Dear Dr. Khorshiddoust, Caspian Sea; Aral Sea; and Urmia Lake have almost similar water demand pressures. The activities in the watershed area decide the future of water availability. Artificial recharge and other remedies could be tried by the locally affected.

 This is an interesting study area. I did some related work on Lake Victoria but focused on the impact od water hyacinth on the fishing communities. This was my thesis research work done around 2000. I used both Cross and timeseries data.  I guess the principles still hold up to the present time. Let me send you the report in the case it may be of help.
