I plan to engraft 1 x 10^6 MCF-7 cells into the mammary fat pad of female athymic (nude) mice. In your experience, how long will it take for the MCF-7 tumor to reach 200 mm^3? If you can attach articles describing this duration, that would be great! The mice will be supplemented with 0.72 mg β-estradiol pellets to stimulate tumor formation

Hi John,
If you inject the total cells from the cell line, in my opinion, it would take around 3-4 weeks for the tumor to reach a 200mm size. However, if you sort the cancer stem cells from MCF7, and inject them, the mice would develop a 200mm size within days time, say one week.
