I want to simulate the effects of temperature variations on natural frequency of a clamped-clamped beam in ABAQUS; (thermal modal analysis)
In step-1 the beam temperature rises from -30 C to +30 C
in step-2 I want to measure the frequencies of the beam in each degree of Celsius.
how to link the two steps is the main challenge, I mean as the temperature varies by time I want to extract the frequencies.
anyone please tell me how to do it?
Thanks dear Mehdi, they have done what I needed in the first paper by Esfarjani et al., but they didn't explain how, which I should ask for help.
at whatever temperature you need to extract eigenvalues, just run simple static analysis raising the temperature to that value from previous value (nlgeom=yes), then immediately next step should be linear perturbation eigenfrequency extraction. If you need at 10 different temperatures, you can do it in a max of 20 steps in one single input file.
I want to know from Prof. Abhimanyu Kumar that, after successively completion of static analysis within temp range (say 0 to 20 degreee), then out put file generated at 20 degree. After that how to link the linear perturbation eigenfrequency at 20 degree (20-0=20)? I need say 10 eigen frequecy at 20 degree.
Simply I want to say; how to do thermal modal analysis in ABAQUS ?
Dear Ranjan I have successfully done the analysis, first in predefined fields set your temperature to 0, then run a coupled temp-displacement analysis raising temperature from 0 to 20, afterward should be linear perturbation frequency analysis. now you get the modal parameters of the system in 20 degree.

can you please explain it, i tried to do, first i created a coupled temp-displacement analysis step, then my next step is frequency .and then i set temperature=0 in predefined field manage in INITIAL step,however when i tried to modify the temperature in predefined field manager, i am unable to do so,abaqus shows that it can not be done,kindly help me
