Effect of imidazole on Aptamers or Aptasensors?

What is the effect of imidazole on Aptamers or Aptasensors to detect proteins?

I have no direct experience with this. However, I note that imidazole is a good chelator for divalent cations. And Mg+2 is important for polynucleotide structure. So it seems likely that imidazole will titrate Mg+2 and in moderate concentrations may unfold aptamers.
