Theory based design of learning material and environment has been increasingly used, however research findings indicate theacher education does not follow.

What is the teacher's position in design of learning environment, tasks, resources?
Do students' get opportunity to learn by design?
Very interesting topic, with many edges to analyze. We have teachers who use these new learning strategies, with different techniques and software, such as: PowerPoint, Prezi, SPSS, Autocad, Excel, voice recognition, among others and other teachers we prefer to eliminate them from our chair and focus on theoretical, experimental and empíric with traditional instruments. Our answer are likely bound to context and age groups that we serve. In our school system all students from T/K-12 have the opportunity to learn through design as part of their design thinking range of experience. The focus is on the growth learning cycles and within the design structures learning from failed designs is part of the process. Our learning environments are reconfigurable to all of teachers to have more control of the internationalist of space, place, and learning activities.

Teachers can play the pivotal role in design education regarding the aforesaid aspects as design education is earnestly necessary for present and the future necessity.

Thank you Andreja, for teacher training we have a partnership wit UC San Diego extensions and the UC San Diego Design Lab. In addition, members of our leadership team conduct training in design and design thinking in education. We have found that using these strategies required us to develop our own induction program for teachers.
