I work with Pseudomonas fluorescens and I think that my bacteria is capable to produce alginate. I saw a lot of protocol, but I need something easy, maybe in plate with specific medium (produce mucoid) because in a few month I need to check many mutants.

It is just a hypothesis. Since alginate has the carbohydrate structure, would applying anthrone agents in your medium do the work, in case you don't have carbohydrate in your medium to start with?
