The shift is due to the faster water oxidation in presence of organics in RuO2, IrO2 or graphite electrode as the organics are adsorbing the OH radical and helps to move the water oxidation reaction towards forward direction. or the shift is due to the oxidation of organics itself? Please help.
OH radical is the strongest reagent for oxidation of organic materials and rate constant for reaction is very high (about 1000000 times higher than oxygen) therefore reaction with OH radicals is probable.
Then the increase in current density is due to organic oxidation itself that you want to say. But how can we distinguish as te organics are adsorbing the OH radical that also may be the reason for increase in current density.
In your question you don't imply about increasing of current density in presence of organic materials, you can perform the experiment in absence of organic materials and compare the results for effect of organic materials.
