During the debridement process, larvae, such as those used in maggot therapy, secrete a variety of enzymes that primarily function to break down necrotic tissue and clean wounds. These enzymes include proteases, collagenases, and other hydrolytic enzymes that help in the removal of dead tissue, thereby promoting a cleaner wound environment conducive to healing. Now I am asking if they can help also to repair tissues during or after the debridement process.
