I did not hear much about it, but during one expo, abroad, I was approached by a "military man", who refused to indentify himself, asking me if I could downscale a misting head I was working on to make it a low-temperature jet engine. Visibly low temperature signature is a plus for a drone.   

Before modern batteries, all drones were ICE powered; 1-cylinder motors up to 1 hp were widely available to power aircraft of various designs, with or without cameras. Electric motors offer advantages in the areas of vibration, noise and thermal profile, at least.

Hi Olof. Thermal signature of a jet engine needs not to exceed the one generated by a piston engine. Jet engine of a new generation the guy I met at Vincennes Fair has looking was, or is a different creature, altogether, it is a situation where a robust ultramodern atomizer has a sort of combustion chamber attached to it. I am quite sure it would work. Essentially it is the required range of flight that has to be taken into account, as to become a decisive factor. Cheers Jerzy.
