The recent events in political life in various countries and internationally are happening with never seen intensiveness and speed. Of course, that needs to be confirmed by social research in various social sciences. But don't You observe from the first glance that this intensiveness and speed has substantially accelerated?
The pandemic is still setting the course. Then we have had Afghanistan, China-USA relations, and additional climate change issues. Policy actions should ensure effective support until the recovery is firmly underway, with an emphasis on advancing key imperatives of raising potential output, ensuring participatory growth that benefits all, and accelerating the transition to lower carbon dependence. As noted in the October 2020 World Economic Outlook (WEO), a green investment push coupled with initially moderate but steadily rising carbon prices would yield needed emissions reductions while supporting the recovery from the pandemic recession. Economic developments in 2021 and 2022 will be largely determined by how successfully vaccination programmes will tame the pandemic and how quickly governments will lift restrictions. For the EU, the forecast assumes that following a marginal easing of restrictions in the course of the second quarter, progress in vaccinations will enable a more marked easing of restrictions in the second half of the year. Unfortunatelly, in 2022, COVID-19 will remain a public health concern, despite the high share of the population being vaccinated (including refreshed protection when needed, for example due to new variants). It is therefore assumed that some limited containment measures will be in place as needed.
I agree politicians are copying each other from one country to another without using the advice of experts. As for the pandemic the politicians are setting policy on a medical matter, which is weird. If you listen to the media, the reporters are urging people to get vaccinated! What about doctors and specialists? They are given ultimatum or you lose your job instead!
Everything seems to take place backwards. After my son spent many years training to become a medical specialist, his administrator (with little education) is threatening to fire him in a hospital overwhelmed with patients!!
Covid 19 enforces status rather than enabling dynamic change. USA's withdrawal from world trouble spots probably gives the idea of greater change than there actually is.
Yes, I do, You even do not have enough time to analyze the event or phenomena, when another happens in related area. Only certain people with certain characters can hurry up in these happenings. But their analysis also can catch only the surface, not the depth of happening.
It is interesting to note that critical moments have accelerated, but the moments for survival have become slower, for instance, politics against climate change (pollution).
I think we just have much better access to information about these events.

Do You really think that in the former Soviet Union, or "market socialism", as Yugoslavia was, or Western welfare states in the 70-80 - ies of the last century the speed and intensiveness of affairs was so fast and so felt as nowadays? I think, that all this began to accelerate after the neoliberal era and digital technological expansion started in the 90-ies. Have You heard about "stagnation" in the Soviet Union before the 90-ies and what it meant? Is it not the evidence of what I am talking? Of course, we are better informed nowadays, as You write, but it is not possible to neglect that also what I am drawing attention to.
