The patients are put in the Difficult Airway Data base or tagged as Difficult Airway only when the physician makes a note. Usually the anesthesia or ENT or Pulmonary physicians typically designate a patient as having a difficult airway. Or when they are called to consult/evaluate a patient that it is suggested has a difficult airway.
Once a patient is designated as difficult airway this is designated in their chart and follows them so on return visits they show this.
But no, there is no screening for all incoming patients routinely.
