Does the unloading path coincide exactly with the loading path when load removed exactly at the elastic point?

During tensile test of ductile material such as mild steel, suppose the load is removed at the proportional limit, the return path should exactly coincide with the loading path. But, the loading path is not linear beyond the proportional. So what will happen to the return path when unloaded from the elastic limit or between elastic limit and the upper yield point?
