A distinct topic, we can rely on some explanatory approaches in this aspect, some complex phenomena and they are many in today's world that need more than one explanatory entrance to understand them, sure that the study of social and psychological factors is very important, and here psychology and sociology constitute the link between Political phenomenon and its surroundings, many phenomena need political psychology to understand the personality of the decision-maker, and many others.
I work in the area of International Relations and understand that they can only be studied from an interdisciplinary approach. Sociology is very necessary since Foreign Policy has a deep relationship with the socio-economic-cultural realities of countries and, therefore, with Internal Policy. As for psychology, I have less knowledge, but I understand that there are important dialogues to be made, not only in decision-making but also in the identity factors involved.
Well. This is not exactly right. In IR we do consider sociological and psychological aspect particularly with respect to foreign policy analysises. In addition to that, in IR we borrow theories/ concepts/ models from other disciplines as well. I have done my phd on ISIS and used theoratical framework from psychology.
