Inertia is a basic property of bodies with mass. However, this basic mechanical property is not described or it is forbiden in the QED description of the electron. What happen if the electron is not moving? Do we need a new branch of physics? Quantum Electrostatic?
Electrons are almost mass less hence could be considered as inertia less, hence could travel with velocity of light...

Note that QED does not "forbid" dealing with the mass of the electron, it simply does not cover the case, simply because it deals only with the electromagnetic aspect of particles.
We do not need any new branch of physics. Classical mechanics deals quite adequately with masses. Since mass is made of energy, there are many ways to describe mass. QED is one and classical physics is another, and Quantum Mechanics is yet another and electromagnetism is still another.

An electron can never stop moving, the uncertainty principle and materialist dialectics forbids such a situation. Generally speaking the electron like other massive quantum particles and unlike photons ( under normal circumstances) does not propagate in all directions as a spherical wave, but only along certain narrow direction, because they are much more massive than the photons. As others have said, an electron does have mass. Anything with mass must travel at less than the speed of light. Meanwhile a photon has zero rest mass. It only has relativistic mass. It therefore cannot ever be at rest, or it basically ceases to exist in any reasonable sense.
Abdul Malek, uncertainty principle does not forbid a static electron. You just will not know its momentum. But you will know its position.
Omar J. Yepez, How would you define a "position"? The centre of the earth, your laboratory, few Anstrom within a molecule or an atom? The "position" is relative and so is "momentum". You have to define the "position" first before you can talk of the uncertainty principle! Planck Unit is the smallest reference in physics, the smallest distance (to define a position) is 1.616229(38)×10−35 meters. Light travels this distance in one unit of Planck time; so you cannot specify the position of a photon within this distance!
Even at much higher scale you have "Zero-Point" vibrational/rotational/electronic energy even near the Absolute Zero degree Kelvin. There have been many attempts to stop vibration/rotation in atoms and molecules at a temperature millionth of a degree near Absolute Zero, but motion could not be stopped !
Dear Omar, I don't know how you would define inertia in QED. Inertia in classical (Newtonian) physics means resistance to motion of macroscopic bodies with mass and ordinary motion or momentum (mv). The electron has mass, but generally have very high speed in confined atomic /molecular orbitals or while flowing as electricity. Free electrons can have speed from very high (as in cosmic rays) to very low speed (as in Bose-Einstein condensate). Even in macroscopic confined volume as a "solvated electron" in liquid ammonia solution (formed when metallic sodium is dissolved in liquid ammonia giving a blue solution) the electron is in orbital motion.
You can of course accelerate electrons/positrons in accelerators.
So, I don't think you can define inertia of an electron in the classical (Newtonian) sense! Sorry, could not be more specific.

Note that when Heisenberg defined the uncertainty principle in the 1920's, he was referring specifically to the electron captive in the ground state orbital of the hydrogen atom.
From this perspective, if you establish its position with respect to the nucleus, you automatically can calculate its momentum with the Coulomb equation as a function of the distance that this establishes between the electron and the proton, due to the that the electron is charged negatively and the proton is charged positively.

Andre, uncertainty means that you can not determine with a high degree of certainty both properties at the same time. If this is true, you can not determine directly or indirectly the momentum of the particle once you know where it is. This is until weak measurement experiment showed that you can!

Electron as an elementary particle (Considering Space as non fundamental) doesn't have the Inertia. As electron acquires mass because of its space (Higg's Field). So, inertia of the electron is related to the inertia mass which is relative term. In macroscopic level (In Newtonian View) inertia is related to resistance to physical movement in Space-time (Both are fundamental) where as in Microscopic level only time is fundamental thing. So resting electron at zero motion is not possible as there are no any coordinates in space (as space is not fundamental) considering electron as elementary ( Non-dual) particle. So, electron will not stop its movement (in perception of observer who is in space time with macroscopic nature)
This is my hypothesis.

Dear Sagar, Therefore, why the electron wavelenght depends on its speed? Why there are QED “solutions” for the static electron?
By the way quantum electrodynamic solutions for the static electron is oxymoronic!

The electron has a rest mass, 9E-31kg, it feels gravity.
The equivalence principle that describes the identity between gravitational and inertial mass will force the electron to show inertia.
I do not know these experiments well, but inertia has been directly shown also:

The electron models are built according to the observation of the electron behavior. There are two models for the electron; the classical model in which the electron behaves as a particle with rest mass m0= 9 x10^-31 kg and a negative charge q= 1.6x 10^-19 As. In the calssical model the motion of the electron is governed by Newton mechanics. The other model is the quantum mechanical model where the moving electrons have quantum mechanical particles and their motion is described by the Schroedinger equation. In the latter model the momentum and the electron energy are quantized instead of having continuous values in classical mechanics. So, still in the quantum mechanical description the electron is assigned a momentum.
In fact the relation between the wave mechanical property lambda and the electron momentum p is defined by the de Broglie Postulate:
p= h/ lambda, where h is the Planck constant.

In classical physics the electron has mass m. Due to relativity when this electron is accelerated to near c its inertia will increase because c is the speed limit. I mean it will be hard to increase the speed near c.
