Our main goal is to determine if the dosage of a certain drug increases the post-operative appetite of dogs.
Some key points worth mentioning about the research are the following :
- In healthy dogs this certain drug increases the appetite.
- (Phase 1) 6 hours after the operation we provide dogs with food and if they do not eat we provide the drug + food.
- (Phase 2) 12 hours later we provide the remaining dogs (those who did not eat in Phase 1) with food and if they do not eat we provide the drug + food.

What statistical model could be implemented and what is the minimum sample size in such cases? Any bibliography suggestions would be really welcome.
