Like a scientific journal, is a book chapter evaluated with a QS ranking or impact factor? If the answer is no, how could I find that this book chapter is not predatory or that it is efficient for citation in a Scopus-indexed journal?
Dear Md. Abid Hassan First of all a paper (and a chapter) does not have an impact factor, the journal can have an impact factor (when indexed in Clarivate's indices ESCI, SCIE or SSCI).
Furthermore a book never has an impact factor, but can be indexed in for example Scopus and then the same is true for the chapter.
See for example the following chapter that I co-authored:
Chapter Lipid involvement in protein translocation
this chapter is counted in my Scopus profile because the book is Scopus indexed
Thank you for your reply. As per your mention, a book chapter can be indexed in Scopus. As a novice, I want to know more about Scopus indexing. How does this indexing work? Are there any other indexes here besides Scopus? Would you please tell me more about this?
Dear Md. Abid Hassan Have a look at for example https://www.worldscientific.com/authors/search-discovery-indexing-books?srsltid=AfmBOooLGAA5lvYCOIWMPFFHtUS_3yQAAifIO_TZsw0HWr7vBq7hK-Td for some general information.
For more specific info:
-When it comes to already indexed books etc. in Scopus you can go to https://www.scopus.com/sources and click on the left at Source type Book series and for how it works https://www.elsevier.com/products/scopus/content/content-policy-and-selection scroll down a bit for info about books
-When it comes to Web of Science you can go to http://wokinfo.com/mbl/ and for how it works https://clarivate.com/academia-government/scientific-and-academic-research/research-discovery-and-referencing/web-of-science/web-of-science-core-collection/editorial-selection-process/book-evaluation-process-selection-criteria/
And as indicated above for some more info about other indices see https://www.worldscientific.com/authors/search-discovery-indexing-books?srsltid=AfmBOopY5nCGfBkaXHNHi17vfOYd4cG5KWiJz2Ksf1MPdA2nypGMkys3
