I want to isolate DNA of old plant material tomorrow using a CTAB protocol. Unfortunately i forgot to put the sorbitol wash buffer (100mM Tris-HCl, 5mM EDTA, 0.35M Sorbitol, pH8) into the fridge after autoclaving and hence it was kept at room temperature for about a week.

Is the only reason to keep it at 4°C to prevent bacterial growth and do you think I can still use it (it has not been opened after autoclaving)?
