While performing CFA, I got negative and low factor loading for a few constructs in AMOS, but model fit indices are good. Is the result of the CFA model valid? Can i proceed with the study or do i have to remove negative and low factor loading?
Dear Zahoor Ahmad Bhat , If I understand correctly, Factor loadings of some indicators on some factors are very low or negative. if so, then we should see what our indicators are, for example, if the indicators are the questions of a questionnaire, and a certain question ( indicator) has a very low factor loading on a certain factor and is related only to that factor, then you can delete that question from the questionnaire , or change it (according to CTT or IRT) so it gives a better factor loading. If the loading is negative and significant , then it could be due to reverse scoring, and it has meaning and value, in this case you need to apply the reverse scoring for that question.
Yes there is reverse scoring in many questions، infact the scores of one scale are dependent on the resposne of respondents۔ if the respondents give appropriate response، his scores are added to form tbe compsite score if he did not his core get subtracted۔
