Research Gate helps in that I can use it as a search engine for revi of literature. It also has tools to guide early career researchers through the maze of complex research world.

Quality science networking is deep and focused . I don't think there will ever be a particularly useful network for scientists; if I'm wrong about this, it will look nothing like ResearchGate.
Yes, it motivates! Because transparency is the main characteristic feature of RG. As contrasted to RG, in journals even "deep and focused" articles may be rejected due to subjective opinion of reviewer or even under-the-carpet machinations
