Does qubit's connectivity in some QPUs allow executiong CNOT gates only in a given direction?

Hi, are there cases where connectivity between two qubits (say q1 and q2) allows the physical realisation of a Controlled-Not gate only in one direction (say control:q1, target:q2)? if "YES", a part from SWAPs, how does the QPU cope with this in order to implement CNOT in a reverse way (say control: q2, target: q1)? Thanks.
