I am wondering if cells (in this case pancreatic epithelial duct cells) as cell aggregates (3D cell clusters) are different from those cells cultured as monolayer (2D culture) in terms of secreting chemokine/cytokines or other factors. In other words, I am curious to know if clustering gives cells any beneficial advantage for secretion or other criteria. Any thought would be appreciated.
