Both ? When compensatory effects fail to achieve required standards then the potential for mitophagy increases until a threshold is reached. The amount of mitophagy will dictate whether the cell recovers or dies

MRS is altered by general cell stress, which should increase with aging (via inflammaging, as well as other mechanisms). Humanin and MOTS-c are both responsive to general cell stress as far as I know.
