Does linking Abaqus to Visual Fortran Composer XE require Virtual Studio?

I have available to me licenses for Abaqus 6.14-3 and Intel Visual Fortran Composer XE 2013 (for Windows). What I can't seem to figure out is whether the link between Abaqus and Visual Fortran Composer XE requires the installation of Virtual Studio. On the one hand the inclusion of Visual in the name makes it appear as though the required components are included, on the other hand in online references I see VS being installed in advance .

Can anyone provide me with a clear and definite answer on this? Also, are these two versions compatible, and if VS is required what version should this be? Can anyone refer me to a guide on how to make this work?
