Several moths do not prefer to oviposit on hairy surfaces. My argument is that the fungus mycelium and its conidiophore can cause hindrance in oviposition and thus deter oviposition. Does anyone know any published papers on this? Any comments?
Yes, fungus can affect the oviposition behaviour. The toxins / secretions secreted by fungii can alter the oviposition behaviour of the insect. In fact, there are several entomogenous fungii like Aspergilus, Buveria bassiana, Entomopthora, etc. are largely associated with the insects and affect their several life activities and are fatal.
