We are planning on measuring GLT-1 expression in male Sprague-Dawley rats using western blot techniques and would prefer to lightly anesthetize animals with isoflurane prior to brain extraction. As such, it would be ideal if isofurane did not significantly alter GLT-1 prior to conducting these measures. Any insight much appreciated! Thanks.

İ think you have a ''short'' exposure time of isoflurane in your work and i dont think thats alter direkt the glt-1 expression, isoflurane is good hypnotic and makes a good musel relaxtion but in not so good as a analgetic-- this can make a problem in yor work, Pain can alter the palsticty and expression of many genes in CNS also GLT-1.
make a good analgesic in your work and dont forget you make only a snap shot of the gen regulation.
