Usually chloroform or dicholoromethanol will remove the pigmented compound . Before ethanol extraction the leaf material should be extracted with chloroform or dichloromethanol

chloroform or dicholoromethane or acetone would be good with minimum extraction of pure compounds

As per Kalaivani or Walsed, the method may work but it all depends upon the dipole moment of the compounds you are looking for. Chloroform or acetone are polar solvents and they might remove some essential compounds along with chlorophyll.

Acetone  or chloroform is good solvent  

This simple saponification process should work:

1. Add 500 ul 1% ethanolic pyrogallol and 500 ul 40% KOH to sample

(the resulting powder/residue from the extraction phase) and vortex.

2. Add 1 ml water and 2 ml 5:1 hexane/dichloromethane solution to the

mixture and vortex.

3. Centrifuge the samples at 3000 rpm for 5 minutes.

4. Remove the top layer and dry down under nitrogen or via solvent evaporator.

However if the sample contains extremely high levels of chlorophyll saponification may need to repeated.
