I know chlamydia uses some glycolysis enzymes ,that they lack, from the host cell, does that uptake of enzymes trigger any homeostatic event from which the host cell would upregulate some genes expression levels ?
The Chlamydia story keeps popping up, but it has been shown a long time ago that at least some Chlamydia species can provide their own energy through glycolysis: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1046/j.1365-2958.1999.01464.x/full. 3-BP may be a useful inhibitor for the glycolysis of Chlamydia since it inactivates several enzymes of the glycolytic pathway irreversibly. Kind regards, Harrie Verhoeven.
