Hi,
I'm looking to find a human lacrimal gland cell line, consisting of secretory (serous/acinar) cells, as I wish to design an in vitro model of the lacrimal gland.
I have checked ATCC and all the other big databases, but I can't find anything :( I was hoping that somebody could give me some pointers on where to find one (if there is one available on the market, that is).
Gathering tissue from a patient is a bit too time-consuming, but will probably be the only other option, if a cell line isn't available for purchase.

Hi Dennis, there are numerous groups across the world who work with not only the secretory cell cultures but also epithelial cell lines and LG stem cell cultures. However, to the best of my knowledge most labs build their own cultures, which makes a lot of sense too. If getting human tissues is cumbersome, good no of murine models are also available for the same, which may be a bit easier.

Thank you for the help. In that case, I might have to contact a different group to get hold of a culture. I was hoping I could purchase it online somewhere, but I suppose I'm not that lucky :)

There are no available human lacrimal gland cell lines that are immortalised (as far as I know). The labs of focused researchers in Germany, Japan, USA grow themselves as we do here in India. I am afraid the only way is to start growing it in your lab.

Thanks for the response :) That was my impression too - that relevant cell lines aren't available for purchase anywhere. I was just hoping that I'd overlooked something.
