I am not a specialist in Diptera. But to make it easier for someone who could know it: Pleas tell us the size of this Diptera and the region were you caught it. Greetings.
Family Fanniidae by my calculations based on bare arista, M straight, Sc smooth curve, head not small, no strong bristles on abdominal dorsum, proboscis normal and labella without posterior lobes, lower calypter distinctly longer, flagellomere not distinctly enlarged.
Possibly the lesser housefly Fannia canicularis but the specimen would have to be examined closely.
I'm not convinced it is Fannia canicularis. To be sure it is Fanniidae, the anal veins would need to be clearly visible, which in this image they are not. I concur, send it to a specialist. If Adrian Pont is unable to deal with it I can probably take it correctly to family at least and beyond that, perhaps genus is also possible.
I think it is a Muscidae, the curvature of the Sc vein is not as in Fannidae (but a picture of the wing would help confirm). What country was it collected in?
