I'm working right now in a systematic review to understand how semantic search engines work and what the state-of-the-art looks like, and I came across this new term, "semantic search agent". If you know that there is a relationship with semantic search engines, please let me know.

I don't know what a semantic search agent is
but in AI an agent means a piece of software
that can act on behalf of someone else.
A semantic search engine works by question
and answer, maybe a semantic search agent
can do more complicated actions.
Also, in AI there are phases lasting a few years
that are dominated by a buzzword, such as
- Fifth Generation
- new connectionism, neural nets
- fuzzy
- agents
- semantic web
- deep learning
If we want do do something innovative,
let's combine neural networks with semantic web,
fuzzy with deep learning, deep learning
with agents, agents with semantic web....

You can imagine that Semantic Search engine, is a piece of software that works only reactively. The user will type a string and the interface engine provides an answer.
A Semantic Search Agent, can be interpreted as an intelligent interface (agent) that can learn and act proactively in a domain.
For instance, consider the following website:

The user will type some string or question and will have a result. This is an example of a Semantic Search Engine.
The same website has a database that has to grow, find new relationships or even new data sources. You could do this by hiring a someone that will manually search the web using linked data standards, or, you can build an Agent to do this. Building an Agent with such characteristics is an example of a Semantic Search Agent,
