I’m recording great tit vocalizations around the nest during breeding. Males can use songs, alarm calls or this kind of call that I am not sure to identify (see the attached files).
This sounds like a long-range communication call. These are often used while moving fast in the dense canopy, and when pair or flock members are separated by the distance of 10-15 m at least.
Thanks for your answer, this really help. It can effectively match with the context in which I have recorded these calls. Males use these calls in situation where the female answer them from inside the nest. Males where not really far from the nest (less than 5-10 meters), but there are no visual contact between mates.
You can contact professor Torben Dabelsteen from University of Copenhage. He is an expert in great tit vocalization. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Torben_Dabelsteen
Thanks, xeno-canto is an interesting website. But it seems that there is no really a word for the calls that I am looking for. That amazing how great tits are well studied and how few is known about their vocalizations.
I have already contacted Torben Dabelsteen, I am waiting for his answer. Effectively, I hope he could have an idea about these vocalizations.
I identify the sound in file C5_F17_incub_out as some alarme call. This signal tits use to the address of man intruding into hteirs territory. I register this call in Kaniv Nature Reserve many times.
