One of the challenges in using the PV systems is the accumulation of dust. Currently I am studying the effect of dust accumulation on the performance of PV systems in Tehran city. Reviewing the literature shows that the composition of dust as well as the size of the particles has an impact on the output of PV modules. I would be great-full If any one shares any specific information regarding dust size or its composition which is naturally deposited in an urban environment, specially for Tehran, Iran.

Regarding the above question, a conference paper entitled "Physical and Chemical Analysis of Outdoor Dust Deposited on Photovoltaic Panels Installed in Rabat" was also published by Abdelfettah Barhdadi et al, in the "Fourth International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference IRSEC16".

In order to answer the above question, a lot of research as well as some experiments were done. The results were published recently in an article in the Solar Energy Journal, which attached here.
Depends on where you are, as each location has it own finger print of dust composition , as you mention Tahran-iran, it is fall of quartz about 50%, carbonates 30%, felsdpar minerals 10, clay and heavy minerals with appreciable amounts of organic matter.
