The evidence isn't entirely clear and show controversial results. However we know that the global posture deviations cause body adaptation and realignment, which may interfere with the organization and function of the temporomandibular joint. Indeed, different researchs show that the methodology applied will be the differential factor of your experiment. On the one hand, the insufficient number of articles considered of excellent methodological quality is a factor that hinders the acceptance or denial of this association. In the other hand, others researchs show that results suggest a close relationship between body posture and temporomandibular disorder, though it is not possible to determine whether postural deviations are the cause or the result of the disorder.  Anyway, I send to you some papers that can clarify your ideas!

yes forward neck posture can cause TMJ disorders, and many of our patients with upper cross syndrome also give the history of TMJ pain of dysfunction.

Hi Jose:  in the study we did, we found a reference that suggested that head/neck posture was important when trying to reduce bias with mouth opening measurement.  It suggested that we had to keep the posture consistent when measuring pre and post treatment.  This suggests that head and neck posture are important when considering proper TM function.  Here is the reference.

There is a direct link between TMJ and foot hyperpronation.  In 2013 I published my results on this coupling.  I demonstrated that abnormal foot pronation changes the frontal plane position of the cranial bones (e.g., away from orthogonal).

Since many TMJ disorders result from the frontal plane shift of the maxilla, this foot to jaw relationship is now supported by research.
