I am looking for articles about Tamahagane steel. Both articles about what this steel was used for and how the actual steel itself was made. I have heard translations of "Tamahagane" both as "Jewel Steel" - the finished steel - and "Iron Balls" - which seems to be about how Tamahagane steel is made from small naturally occurring small balls of iron in certain types of sand. The word "Tamahagane then consisting of: "Tama" - meaning round and precious - and "Hagane" - meaning steel.
