Aedes epactius has been described by Dar and Knab in 1908, from Cordoba, Veracruz, Mexico. It is from southwester south central United States to Panama. Its larva, pupa , male and femal have been described by a number of workers. Its eggs, as far as I know, is not known.
If a colony of Aedes epactius exists, It could be in Mexico and/or Panama. If I were to start a lab colony of this species , I would go to the type-locality ( Cordoba) and collect as many male and female as possible; put them in a large cage , get the eggs and rare them well. Aedes are easy to colonize. -good luck
PS. For raring techniques please read literature about other Aedes species.
We have one colony from Oaxaca, Mexico. This colony has been mantained for one year, in Regional Center for Public Health Research, Tapachula,Chiapas . If you are interesting contact to us in Mexico. Best regards .
