I am working on a project that requires me to be able to measure the tend and befriend model of stress for my experiment. So far of the research I have seen tend and befriend has only been measured in terms of biological markers such as oxytocin. I need to be able to compare the tend and befriend stress outcome vs fight or flight outcome but am having difficultly finding a measure.
If "tend and befriend" is "a putative coping mechanism where people behave generously towards others in order to invest in social relationships to seek comfort and mutual protection" (see Margittai paper below), you may want to look at prosocial behavior.
