I have looked on the web but do not find anything that resembles the old Nikon or Olympus scopes. I need transmitted light so that I can see mosquito ovaries well enough to age grade them.

To perform dissections to determine physiological age, stomach, salivary glands((adult or larvae), etc., a stereoscope with LED lighting incident / transmitted is recommended.

Remember you to make sure that the voltage and frequency are appropriate to your condition.
I work in the field without electricity! Also a mirror stage allows one to move the angle at which the light strikes the preparation so changing contrast slightly (helps when looking for dilatations).
