Try to place the tissue section gradually in the water bath at room temperature. If tissue sections were not tightly attached to slides, they would float on the water. Later you should transfer in the water bath around temp 38-39C then attached on the charged slides.

Before going to stain the mounted sections, fix them buy heating on the heating plate for 3-4 second upto melting of paraffin or heat fix them on 60C in heat oven for 10 minutes. It may help you.
