Are there validated tools and methods to evaluate the level of cultural competency and use of training regarding cultural sensitivity among any type of health care professionals? I don't know of any specific training but in my research I have identified five pillars which act as a benchmark for staff pedagogy development. As part of the five pillars the first pillar "cultural consciousness" is all about staff training, awareness and development for students of ethnic diversity. The five pillars can be used as a heuristic tool so might help with your evaluation.

Price et al (2005) have done some interesting work in this area (they have a number of studies specifically on the cultural competence of health care professionals. Here is one citation that may help?

Each training needs specific, valid and reliable evaluation instruments if it is seriously undertaken. You cannot match any kind of evaluation to any kind of training. Additionnally, there are plenty of studies about the effects of training methods on intercultural competence and the are mostly pessimistic about the efficiency of such training methods (e.g. Mendenhall, Mark E., Stahl, Gunter K., Ehnert, I., Oddou, Gray, Osland, Joyce S., & Kuhlmann, T. M. (2004). Evaluation studies of cross-cultural training programs. Handbook of intercultural training, 129-143.). Also, cultural senstivity of the existing instruments (like IDI for instance) is mostly understood in a conservative way, meaning that you should adapt to existing cultural patterns and therefore being rather culturalistic. Culture understood as something that is permanently reconstructed would need other kinds of training and evaluation. The risk of culturalistic view in tranings is that participants tend not to be aware of intragroup variability and varied identities within a specific target group.
