All expression databases that I found may be searched using gene IDs but not using gene or protein sequence as query. Additionally, I'm mainly interested in tissue specificity, looking for presence of the sequence of interest in a specific tissue. Any tip(s) would be greatly appreciated. :)
The easiest way is to blast protein sequence to obtain genes or proteins IDs, and then looking for the expression levels in the classical expression database, and the problem is how to estimate tissue specificty.
I absolutely agree with Konrad. To do that you can blast your sequences on the public database
If you've got a close sequenced genome you can align your proteins to get the orthologous names. Then you can use that names to your purposes.
It depends by the proteins you are looking for but for the most it works.
