Interesting practical question. The attached analyses that impact and the findings allow an evidence-based optimization of ranger station siting. Another of our Kenyan elephant papers touches upon the impact of patrol routes on elephant distribution.

Ali, this may be anecdotal to your question, but see the attached article, where Binkley and his colleagues found the Quaking Aspen Ranger Station on the Kaibab Plateau provided refuge to aspens in the 1920s, when they would have been browsed on by mule deer.
