A method which can quantify the effectivity of the prunning of pear trees in our case. The project is based in the White Carpathians (Slovakia) and the goal is to provide arboricultural care to old pear trees (100-200 years old). We also want to document the reaction of these trees to prunning. (See attached file)

Hi, I am not a expert, but as a hobbyist and semiprofessional pruner, I think the easiest way is to measure the enlargement of fruits after pruning regarding pre-pruned state.
Thanks Alen, that would be one reaction, but we need to quantify wound healing, shoot growth etc. Seems that we have to do the whole method by ourselves.
Then you maybe could compare those criteria (wound healing, shoot growth, number of shoots from cut, number of fruit/leaf buds on those shoots, etc.) regarding younger (20, 40, 60, etc years) pear trees and their reaction to pruning. But to incorporate aging factor, you should develop a model for predicting reaction regarding age of the tree and then see if the reaction of old trees are better or worst than predicted.
