Hello, some very important blood samples were frozen at -80 before being spun down. Upon thawing and centrifuging a non important sample at 2000 x g and 100000 x g nothing seemed to spin down. Are these samples now useless? Does anyone know a way we could remove the plasma that's effective? Please, this is very bad!
It seems to be very difficult to extract true plasma from frozen blood samples as RBCs would have hemolysed.
Yes, it seems as if it wouldn't be possible....
I was thinking maybe if we ran everything through a two micron filter first, but there's probably too much heme to hope for anything
The RBCs lyse during freezing, so it will be difficult to get plasma from frozen blood, but you can still use it after centrifugation for antibodies detection of in any procedure in which hemoglobin have no inhibitory effect on the procedure/method
Abdul, do you know of any such procedures? Other than tests aimed at measuring haemolysis itself I haven't been able to find anything meaningful.
