Mira is the best option. But it is limited with number of reads. It consumes lot of RAM which most of the time gets impossible to proceed with data from HiSeq. If the genome is smaller ones like bacteria, virus, fungus then MIRA is the best. Else if you have more reads which MIRA couldn't process, then its better to process each platform data separately in its own expertise tool like Illumina-Velvet, 454-Newbler and then assemble both the result files into one final one. Or altleast process illumina data alone separately and pool the contigs from illumina data and 454 raw reads into one file and feed as one 454 data into MIRA. This is not an best option, because its always good to have all the information when it assembles. But at the time with limited resource, this could help.

That is fine. But with so much data Mira get crashed very frequently. I have faced this problem very frequently. I feel the second option is really helpful. I also followed the same. But do we have some option for these crashing incidents.
I have also tried using some subsets of both data at same time, but if it starts crashing, it doesn't work after that.
