My next project will be tracing Pauline ideas about imitation that are preserved in second century documents. While the concept of imitation is found within the Gospels, the vocabulary of imitation is generally Pauline in the New Testament. Second century sources use first century texts and ideas. Paul's thinking can be identified in many of the Apostolic Fathers. Much work has been accomplished on memory, but most of the publications that I have seen are related to the Gospels and the first century. Who is working on memory of Jesus in the second century? Are there any publications on this subject?
