Does anyone have some experience with validating the performance of Thermo Fisher ADRs - especially to US EPA Equivalence Standard methods? I have not been able to source any open published work, and I'd really like to access some experience here. There is a good deal of work on similar types of optical particle measuring instruments (eg DustTraks, Grimms, nephelometers), but I can't find anything specifically on the ADR. We are about to enter a validation program in Victoria, and some knowledgeable independent input would be very helpful.
I'm not sure you can. The device assumes the same density and refraction for all particles. We collect a filter to come up with a multiplier to correct the measurements but the multiplier is different each time.
Yes indeed - the cal factors will be all over the place. Want to do this essentially for mono-compositional particles (bush fire smoke). Will try out the filter method - thanks.
